Hej København, my friend!

There are so many good reasons to hype Copenhagen. The canals, the bold architectural masterpieces like the Opera House and the Danish art of design. But to us, it’s not the obvious standard things we love most about this tiny, cosy city. Copenhagen’s charme lies in the inobvious, in the small things.  It’s the smiling bus driver not letting you pay for your ticket as “hey, it’s Christmas” (on May 6th… whatever religion he belongs to!), the Danish love for details, the beautifully styled ice cream at IS that looks so perfect you don’t want to eat it, the waiter who persuades you to take another glass of wine because “hey, come on… it’s Friday!” or the drunk guys from Jütland explaining the differences between Denmarks different regions (main point: people from Jütland are the best in Denmark, of course), the friendly team from Revolver Copenhagen giving us great tips for store checking… and so forth!

All the beauty of this city would be nothing without the heart and soul of the people.  As for fashion, the city offers so many small and medium concept stores and forward-thinking concepts such as established mono brands holding multibrand stores, designer-conglomerates and food-fashion combinations.  Some of our store-likes from this trip:

Madame My – quite affordable stuff, many Danish designers in between of internationally well established names and Italian brands.

Playtype – not clothes, but funky types and stuff you don’t really need but simply have to buy.

Samsoe Samsoe – so great! Seldomly seen a brand curating such a great combination of brands.

Black – smells like heaven, the warm smiles of the owner and vendor just make you wanna hug them, you’ll definitely buy a perfume or some interior accessoire, clothes are rather sleak and casual. GO THERE!

Lu Barol: colourful and cosy! We don’t fit in there as a brand but for women who like rather playful design and prints, this place is worth a visit.

Henrik Vibskow – very very very cool. Luxury streetwear, funky designs.

Food and Drinks – best of:

Llama – Aesop products on the toilet, ladies portions, men’s drinks. Be aware of the charming waiters.

Gorilla – simply perfect… Everything – the food, their sharing concept, their lovely / competent / layed back service – especially the guy with the light blond hair, Hawaii T-shirt and a nose-piercing, the cocktails, the atmosphere. There are  many local people!

IS – artisian organic ice cream made by two very nice bald guys with tattoos

RUDO vermouth bar – just because of the atmosphere and the lights, and the Danish band playing jazz in front of the place
(I guess we don’t need to mention street food market)

Copenhagen, we’ll be back.
